Looking for ideas to add a personalised touch to your wedding?

I absolutely love seeing little personal touches woven throughout a wedding day. I get ridiculously excited when I spot something that is completely them and, of course, I make sure I capture it.

If you’re looking for ideas for adding a bit of personality to your own wedding, I’ve pulled together some of my favourite details from my couples over the years. From Lego versions of your wedding guests to tractor cufflinks, there are some absolute corkers below!

Emma & Scott | Halton Grove

Emma and Scott’s Halton Grove wedding had so many little attention-to-detail touches that I could have written a whole blog just about them.

My favourite had to be their Lego seating plan. Every single guest had their own Lego version of themselves, sitting at a mini Lego representation of the actual dining room. Once guests found their mini selves and saw where they were sitting, they were then gifted their Lego character as a wedding favour.

Emma and Scott’s own characters had been moved from their allocated seats and placed at the “bar”, which, to be honest, seems absolutely like the place I’d want to be found on my wedding day too!

Another favourite from their day was their running-of-the-day brochure, which perfectly represented their love of sport. They used a football theme to introduce the wedding party and share all the important information guests needed throughout the day. Such a fun way to bring something you love into the little details.

Jade & Ollie | Yorkshire Farm Wedding

Jade and Ollie’s Yorkshire farm wedding was full of little farming-related nods, which felt particularly fitting as they’re both farmers themselves.

My favourite had to be Ollie’s JCB tractor cufflinks. It’s such a small detail, but it was completely personal to him and a lovely little thing to spot while photographing all those getting-ready details.

I also love when couples include photographs of loved ones in their bouquets. Jade had little photos attached to hers, which is such a lovely way to carry someone special with you as you walk down the aisle.

Jess & Freddie | Yorkshire Farm Wedding

Jess and Freddie also had a beautiful Yorkshire farm wedding, with a huge marquee as the centre of their celebrations.

I absolutely loved the black-and-white photo banners of the two of them, which led guests along the walkway towards the marquee. It was such a lovely way to make the entrance feel personal before guests had even stepped inside.

Inside, they had more photographs of themselves printed as postcards for guests to sign, along with personalised wine and shot bottles. Simple little touches, but ones that fitted perfectly with the relaxed, fun feel of their day.

Sophie & Tom | Grand Villa Heights

Sophie and Tom’s wedding at Grand Villa Heights had incredible sea views all around, but the aesthetics inside were just as beautiful.

I loved how the colours and textures came together in their mirror welcome sign, positioned just outside the ceremony room. It photographed beautifully against the coastal backdrop.

Inside the ceremony room, they had a newspaper-style order of the day waiting on the seats for their guests. I’m particularly biased towards this one because I had taken the photograph of Sophie and Tom during their beach engagement session that was used in the design!

It’s such a lovely idea if you have a favourite photograph from your engagement shoot — rather than letting it live only on your phone or in your gallery, why not give it another little moment on the wedding day?

Lena & Kevin | Hylton Castle

This Scrabble wedding cake for Lena and Kevin’s Hylton Castle wedding is probably one of the most interesting cakes I’ve photographed.

It was such a fun way to bring one of their shared interests into the day, and made their cake feel completely personal to them rather than simply being a beautiful wedding cake.

Jack & Katie | Healey Barn

I could go on and on with all the wedding personalisations I’ve loved over the years, but I couldn’t finish without mentioning Jack and Katie’s May wedding at Healey Barn.

I absolutely adored Katie’s fluffy cardigan with “Mrs Sharp” embroidered across the back. Even if you get too warm to actually wear it for very long, I feel like it’s almost made for the photo opportunity!

Then there were Katie’s super-cool rock skeleton socks with “wifey” on them, which perfectly summed up this edgy couple.

And, of course, we can’t forget their Labrador, Ollie. He had his own personalised outfit, with an outfit change after the ceremony so his scarf went from “I do” to “my humans are married”. I absolutely love it when dogs make an appearance at weddings, but Ollie took it one step further by featuring on all of the table centrepieces too.

Because, as far as Jack and Katie were concerned, there were three stars of this wedding – not just the two of them!

These are just a handful of the personalised touches I’ve had the pleasure of photographing over the years, and I could honestly keep going.

The thing I love most is that none of these ideas are about following a particular wedding trend. They’re about taking little things that mean something to you as a couple and finding a way to bring them into your day.

It could be your favourite hobby, your job, your pets, your family, an inside joke, a shared obsession or simply something that makes you both laugh. It doesn’t have to be big or expensive – sometimes the smallest details are the ones your guests remember most.

And from my point of view, they’re also the details that make your wedding gallery feel completely you. So if there’s something you love, however random it might seem, bring it along. I’ll be there looking out for it!
